Whisper: How to Hear the Voice of God by Mark Batterson is a fascinating book that explores a variety of ways that we can hear God’s voice each day.

This book is sure to be impactful in the lives of people who have a sincere desire to hear God’s voice.

This is the second book that I’ve read by Mark Batterson. I honestly did not enjoy the first book I read by him very much and that led me to be very skeptical about whether or not I would find value in this book. It is with great pleasure that I am able to report that I found immense value in this book. I read this book at a time when I had a deep hunger for developing an intimate relationship with God and the concepts presented in this book truly poured into my life.

This book helps readers understand the importance of quieting our lives in order to hear God speak to us. As Mark is known for doing in his books, he shares countless stories and experiences within each chapter that add depth to the concepts that he is expounding on. This is one aspect of his writing that did not appeal to me when reading a previous book by him and is still something worth mentioning for readers who are not fond of books that are filled with loads of stories, historical accounts and personal experiences. There is no denying that there are a lot of them in this book, but this time around I found myself more drawn in by them. I firmly believe that’s because I was so hungry to learn about this topic that I did not want to miss anything. If some readers are not that enamored with the topic, it’s totally likely that they may be repelled by all of the stories and experiences shared.

I am so glad and grateful that I was willing to give this book a try. It has helped me to appreciate God’s desire for true intimacy with us and is leading me to focus on practicing listening to God more often. I highly recommend this book for anyone who has a sincere desire to learn how to hear God’s voice. This book is sure to help and pour into those who are most receptive, ready and willing to receive.
